2018 is a crucial year for China's implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan. It is a critical period for China's restructuring of copper industry, comprehensive advancement of green development, high quality and coordinated development. In recent years, copper resources exploitation developed significantly in Xinjiang, Tibet, Gansu, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, etc. The combined annual copper concentrates output in these areas increased by 48% from 375 kt in 2010 to 554 kt in 2017, accounting for approximately one third of China's total output. There are also big potentials in the future. At the same time, copper smelting industry was developing rapidly in these areas too. With the acceleration of China’s new pattern urbanization process and the promotion of the western development strategy, combined with the national “One Belt and One Road” initiative, copper industry in northwestern China will have a broader space and industrial status will be greatly enhanced.
In order to explore the development trend of global copper industry and the transformation and upgrading of China's copper industry, and to improve the quality of industrial development, and promote the green and intelligent development of China’s copper industry, China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA) schedules to hold "the 16th China International Copper Forum 2018" on September 5-7, 2018 in Xining City of Qinghai Province.
